Once Upon a Time...

The idea of Knocked Prone was born from noticing a lack of clean D&D podcasts. Our host and Dungeon Master, Kade Backus, first found a passion for Dungeons and Dragons through listening to other D&D podcasts, and he knew with his background in sound engineering and audio recording he could bring a professional-grade podcast into the world.  Kade Backus started the Knocked Prone podcast in late 2020, and with the runaway success and joy he found from creating D&D stories, he ended up quitting college and pursuing creating D&D podcasts as a full-time career.

Over the past 2 years, Kade has been joined by 7 highly talented cast members, recorded over 100 episodes, and has spent countless hours writing, editing, marketing, and more. Kade equates the success of the Knocked Prone podcast to his amazing team of cast members and friends he works with and is excited to create more amazing episodes for years to come!

Meet Your Dungeon Master

I am driven by the power of storytelling to connect with others and evoke emotions. I believe that stories have the ability to bridge gaps, foster understanding, and ignite empathy. It excites me to think that through my stories, I can transport people to new worlds, introduce them to diverse perspectives, and spark meaningful conversations.

I am motivated by the exploration of ideas and the endless possibilities that storytelling offers. The process of crafting a narrative, developing complex characters, and weaving intricate plots is both challenging and exhilarating. I find joy in the act of creation, in the moments of inspiration, and in the satisfaction of seeing my ideas come to life.

Another crucial aspect for me is the impact that stories can have on individuals and society as a whole. I am passionate about using storytelling as a tool for social change, to shed light on important issues, and to give a voice to those who are often marginalized. I am motivated by the potential to inspire and empower others through my stories, to challenge assumptions, and to contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Collaboration is also significant to me as a storyteller. Working with other creative individuals, bouncing ideas off each other, and pooling our talents and perspectives can result in something truly magical. I thrive on the energy and synergy that comes from collaborating with others and believe that collective creativity often leads to the most innovative and impactful storytelling.

Ultimately, what excites me and motivates me as a storyteller is the ability to create something that resonates with people, that touches their hearts and minds, and that leaves a lasting impression. I am driven by the desire to connect, to entertain, and to make a difference through the stories I tell.
